James MacPhail's Notes

Located in the heart of the Russian River Valley, the name "Sunny View" is actually a contradiction - this vineyard lies low in the Santa Rosa Plan, shrouded in cool fog overnight and into the morning throughout the growing season. The result of the cool weather and dense fog is a delicately-balanced, layered, complex wine worthy of cellar aging for a decade or more.

Tasting Notes

A deeply layered nose of crushed cherries, boysenberry, violets and mocha. A finely tuned yet rich entry to the palate and a juicy mouthwatering middle palate with continued notes of cherry, blueberry, and tobacco. The finish is long and rich.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-picked, hand-sorted, and gently crushed. They underwent a seven-day cold soak followed by fermentation with a combination of punch-down and pump-over maceration techniques to enhance extraction.

Picked grapes resting on a table with red wine in the background.

Sunny View Vineyard

Sunny View Vineyard encompasses 17 acres in the heart of the Russian River Valley, in what is called the Santa Rosa Plain. Three separate vineyard blocks are planted with three of the world’s premiere Pinot Noir clones from Burgundy, France. Cool days and foggy nights ensure vines produce less fruit, causing grapes to be highly concentrated and bursting with flavor.
