James MacPhail's Notes

The 2015 vintage was notable for drought and subsequent low yields in the vineyards, leading to smaller grapes of high concentration and exceptional quality in the Putnam Vineyard. This is a full-bodied Pinot Noir with an array of rich, bold aromatics and flavors that can absolutely hold up to richer food pairings and several more years of aging.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of ripe stone fruit and redwood on the nose. On the palate are flavors of more sweet stone fruit and hedgerow berries. The oak notes show through on the long elegant finish.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-picked, hand-sorted, and gently crushed. They underwent a seven-day cold soak followed by fermentation with a combination of punch-down and pump-over maceration techniques to enhance flavor extraction.

Putnam Vineyard

Putnam Vineyard is situated on the extreme Sonoma Coast, just six miles from the Pacific Ocean. 400-year-old redwood trees surround the vineyard on all sides and are scattered throughout the rows of vines. The coastal climate and Goldridge sandy loam soils result in wines with plenty of richness along with high-toned finesse.
