James MacPhail's Notes

400-year-old redwoods surround the Putnam Vineyard and are scattered in many areas throughout the vineyard itself, protecting vines from summer sun and ensuring temperatures remain consistent - a crucial aspect of grape development. The coastal climate and the Goldridge sandy loam soils result in wines with plenty of richness and structure, evolving beautifully over the years.

Tasting Notes

A complex wine with red berries, black plum and flower petals supported by darker notes of dried herbs, cedar, clove, allspice, dried citrus peel, and forest floor. Full-bodied with stony minerality and grippy tannin.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-picked, hand-sorted and de-stemmed. They underwent a five-day cold soak followed by fermentation with daily punch-downs by hand to enhance flavor extraction.

Putnam Vineyard

Putnam Vineyard is situated on the extreme Sonoma Coast, just six miles from the Pacific Ocean. 400-year-old redwood trees surround the vineyard on all sides and are scattered throughout the rows of vines. The coastal climate and Goldridge sandy loam soils result in wines with plenty of richness along with high-toned finesse.
