The Alexander Valley consists of a broad valley floor bisected by the Russian River.  It is surrounded by hills that block the coastal fog, keeping the region warmer than most of its neighbors.  This climate, combined with well-drained, gravelly soils, help the Alexander Valley produce some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes available.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Sourced from the famous Alexander Valley, this full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon presents black currant, coffee and French oak notes of hazel-nut on the nose. On the palette black currant and black cherry lead to flavors of sweet tobacco, vanilla and a long lingering finish. Big tannins and oak structure will age this wine for 10-12 years.
Ratings
90 POINTS- Wine Enthusiast. This straightforward wine shows an exuberance of toasted oak and grip at first before relaxing into its more mannered self, a twist of cedar and sage giving it a classic sensibility. Cassis and black cherry take on more power on the fullbodied palate, exhibiting the soft approachability of the appellation. —V.B.
Production Notes
The 2013 harvest was spectacular a near twin to the outstanding 2012 vintage. The vineyards in Alexander Valley ripened evenly throughout producing fruit of exceptional structure and concentration. The Calling vineyards matured to perfection which is clearly reflected in the wines produced from 2013
Winemaker Notes
Grapes were hand-sorted and gently crushed. The wine underwent native-yeast fermentation in barrel and had an extended maceration period to soften the tannins. After 24 months again, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered to enhance complexity and aging potential.
