2014 Patriarch Pinot Noir

The aromas are rich and concentrated with dark blue fruit and plum layered over dark chocolate and peppery oak. The palate is powerful and intense with layers of blackberry, roasted coffee and hints of bacon.

James MacPhail's Notes

This spectacular wine was made in our very first vintage partnering with the Putnam family in the extreme northwest corner of the Sonoma Coast AVA. The wine continues to shine with velvety richness and high-toned finesse. Over time, the more savory notes have continued to emerge, making this 2014 vintage a complex and layered conversation-starter. Drink now through 2024.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of ripe stone fruit and redwood on the nose. On the palate are flavors of more sweet stone fruit and hedgerow berries, with savory notes shining through in 7+ years of age in bottle. The oak notes still come through on the long, elegant finish that still retains its fruit and continues to evolve.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-picked, hand-sorted, and gently crushed. They underwent a seven-day cold soak followed by fermentation with a combination of punch- down and pump-over maceration techniques to enhance flavor extraction.
