James MacPhail's Notes

With several new vineyard sources in the 2019 vintage, this wine continues to embody the misty and cool Sonoma Coast, with just a hint of creaminess balancing the bracing acidity. Expect a slightly more full-bodied wine than in previous vintages of this coastal Chardonnay. I recommend enjoying this wine chilled to perfection on a warm Spring or hot Summer evening.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in the glass with aromas of lemon, pomelo, and wet stone. Waves of citrus flavors mingle with Gravenstein apple and the faintest whisper of oak, kissed by a pleasing salinity reminiscent of sea spray and oyster shell.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-sorted and 100% whole cluster pressed. The wine saw two-thirds malolactic fermentation, then was aged sur lie for 8 months in a combination of stainless steel tanks, and both neutral and new French oak.

Sonoma Coast

Stretching from the rugged coastline in the north to former dairy land in the south, the Sonoma Coast AVA spans the length of Sonoma County. Wind, fog, and a salty Pacific Ocean fog create a rugged, cool-climate home for some of Sonoma’s most celebrated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, heralded for their concentrated fruit flavors, notable balance, and complexity.
