James MacPhail's Notes

Dutton Ranch fruit is some of the most highly regarded in Sonoma County and beyond. We work closely with the family to select grapes from various vineyards throughout the Green Valley region so we can build an incredibly balanced, well-rounded Chardonnay. This vintage had a cold start and a warm finish with an early harvest due to warm August and September weather and a lighter crop. This resulted in an excellent vintage and good growing season with no lingering heat waves. Because of the growing season, wines have exceptional flavors, are intense with great color, fuit forward and ripe.

Tasting Notes

Bright aromatics on the nose with notes of Bartlett pear, Meyer lemon, stone fruit and crisp minerality. This full-bodied wine is textured and weighty, showing vibrant and integrated acidity with flavors of pear, green apple, lemon bar, white flowers and a minerality on the finish.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-picked during the height of the cool nighttime temperature, and whole cluster-pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery. Juice was sent directly to barrel ferment to dryness. Aged sur-lie for 11 months with frequent battonage through primary fermentation.
