James MacPhail's Notes

This is our homage to the legendary Russian River Valley AVA, crafted from a variety of vineyard sources throughout the region with the goal of highlighting the Russian River's iconic Pinot Noir style. The 2021 had a cold start and a warm finish with an early harvest due to warm August and September weather and a lighter crop. This resulted in an excellent vintage and good growing season with no lingering heat waves. Because of the growing season, wines have exceptional flavors, are intense with great color, fruit forward and ripe.

Tasting Notes

This textural, medium bodied wine leads with bright red fruits (bing cherry, wild strawberry, red plum, raspberry) and baking spices (clove, nutmeg) aromatics on the nose. The palate is lush and round with vibrant and juicy red fruits, good acidity and silky tannins.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-picked then hand sorted before undergoing primary fermentation. During fermentation, grapes were punched down by hand up to three times, daily. Wine was aged sur-lie in French oak barrels for 11 months.

We collaborate with family growers from several areas throughout the famed Russian River Valley AVA, with each vineyard contributing critical, unique aspects to the resulting wines. Our Gold tier wines are carefully-crafted blends of grapes from these various vineyards, while several of our Platinum tier single-vineyard sources reside within this renowned region.
