James MacPhail's Notes

The 2021 wine growing season was marked by ideal weather conditions, resulting in exceptional grape quality. This wine continues to embody the misty and cool Sonoma Coast, with just a hint of creaminess balancing the bracing acidity. On the nose, aromas of Asian pear, white peach, and zesty lemon citrus. The palate exhibits rich flavors of Gravenstein apple, stone fruit, and Meyer lemon, providing a harmonious balance of acidity and fruit sweetness.

Tasting Notes

Crisp and refreshing tropical aromas of pineapple and lychee, with Bartlett pear, white flowers and stone fruit. The palate shows vibrant notes of pear, lime, tropical flavors, mineral and white peach with mouth-watering acidity and a lingering finish.

Production Notes

Grapes were hand-picked and 100% whole-cluster pressed, fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks, and both neutral and new French oak. The wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation and barrel percentage was aged sur lie for 11 months.

Sonoma Coast

Stretching from the rugged coastline in the north to former dairy land in the south, the Sonoma Coast AVA spans the length of Sonoma County. Wind, fog, and a salty Pacific Ocean fog create a rugged, cool-climate home for some of Sonoma’s most celebrated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, heralded for their concentrated fruit flavors, notable balance, and complexity.
