Fruit SourcingWe partner with esteemed Sonoma County growers, selecting parcels that express the ideal character of site, appellation and varietal. Our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are grown in the legendary soils of the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast while our Cabernet Sauvignon hails from the hillsides of Alexander Valley. |
Russian River Valley AVAWe source from several locations throughout the Russian River Valley, each vineyard site contributing critical, unique aspects to the complexity of the resulting wine. Vineyards located in the warmer end of the Russian River Valley contribute ripe fruit elements while cooler sites lend a strong minerality and structural backbone, and vines at altitude—grown in sandy, well-drained soil—add complexity and structure. |
Dutton Ranch VineyardsThe Dutton family farms 1,100 acres of vineyards—a collection of over 60 non-contiguous parcels in Russian River Valley. We worked with Steve Dutton to pinpoint just the right fruit, landing on three distinctive parcels that, when blended together, deliver a complete, complex wine. Gail Ann Vineyard in the warmer end of the Russian River Valley contributes ripe tropical elements; The Mill Station Vineyard, one of the coolest spots in Russian River, lends a strong minerality and structural backbone; while Dutton Hill with its cool hillside location and sandy, well-drained soil ensures beautiful complexity and structure. |
Sullivan VineyardRussian River Valley AVAThe Dutton family’s 17-acre Sullivan Vineyard sits on a gentle north-facing slope at 200’ elevation in the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley. We are privileged to have access to these 30+ year-old plantings of Wente Selection Chardonnay that grow in legendary Goldridge soil. The fruit possesses a depth, ripeness, and balance that translate into a rich and luscious wine poised on elegant acidity. |
Searby VineyardRussian River Valley AVAJust shy of 20 acres, the Searby Vineyard sits on a gently sloping, west-facing hillside on the legendary Goldridge soils of the Russian River Valley. Originally planted in 1972, this classic site is dry-farmed, the marine influence of the nearby Pacific keeping it exceptionally cool. Its old-vine heirloom clonal selection produces low-yield, intensely aromatic Chardonnay. |
Fox Den VineyardRussian River Valley AVAFox Den Vineyards sits on the western boundary of the cool Green Valley AVA in the Russian River Valley near the town of Occidental. Its microclimate, 12 miles from the coast, offers moderate daytime temperatures, cool nights, and early morning fog, resulting in a very long growing season and ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. Our grapes achieve the right balance and maturity with optimal sugar levels, ripe tannins and high acid, yielding a very dense, complex Pinot Noir. |
Sunny View VineyardRussian River Valley AVAThe family-farmed 17-acre Sunny View vineyard is located in the Santa Rosa Plain. With vineyards lying low within a fog belt, its name belies its character. Three blocks of Pinot Noir are each planted to a distinctive clone: Pommard, Dijon 667 and Dijon 777. Cool, foggy nights and clay-based soils with interspersed sand ensure a low yield of highly concentrated fruit. The resulting Pinot Noir is delicately balanced with tremendous depth and ripe concentration complemented by acidity and verve. |
Sonoma Coast AVAEncompassing about 2,000 vineyard acres, the rugged Sonoma Coast AVA stretches from the northern coastline of Sonoma County to the west, slightly overlapping the coolest sections of the Russian River Valley and Los Carneros. The appellation is defined by direct daily influence from the Pacific, the vineyards of the northern reach planted on high ridgelines just a few miles from the ocean. Our Chardonnay grapes benefit from cooling coastal fog that enhances acidity while warmer parcels planted above the fog line contribute ripe tropical fruit notes. |
Putnam VineyardSonoma Coast AVAThe Putnam family farms this magical 32-acre vineyard nestled in a grove of redwoods on the extreme Sonoma Coast—just six miles from the Pacific. The site’s coastal climate and Goldridge sandy loam soils result in wines with tremendous richness matched with high-toned finesse. The Patriarch Pinot Noir was specially sourced from this magnificent site. |
Terra de Promissio VineyardSonoma Coast AVASince its first plantings in 2002, Terra de Promissio has gained widespread renown as an ideal place to grow Pinot Noir grapes. The perfect combination of southwest sun exposure and wind and fog from the Petaluma Gap allow the grapes to ripen slowly with extended hang time for optimum ripeness. This idyllic land of promise is home to some of the best known Pinot Noir in Sonoma. |
Alexander Valley AVAThe Alexander Valley is an incredibly diverse appellation. Stretching from the valley floor to the bench lands, up to southwest-facing Mayacamas mountain vineyards, its soils and climate are ideal for growing Bordeaux varieties. We source our fruit from warmer bench land parcels on well-draining gravelly soils that possess the ideal calcium-magnesium ratio required for high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon. Gentle coastal breezes find their way between the hillsides to cool the region every evening, ensuring our fruit ripens slowly and evenly, reaching ideal maturity, concentration and complexity. |
Moon Mountain AVAThe west-facing Moon Mountain appellation perches high above the Sonoma Valley on the southern end of the Mayacamas mountain range just 50 miles north of San Francisco. Its 1,500 acres of vines range from 400 to over 2,000 feet above sea level and are grown in a variety of mainly rocky, volcanic soils. Warm, sunny days tempered by cool afternoon breezes off the Pacific create powerful, multifaceted wines with dark, brooding fruit, an underscore of complex savory notes and a coffee and dark cocoa finish. Our Tribute was sourced from this AVA in 2014 and 2016. |
Monterey County AVAThe warm sun, cool fog and complex soil composition of Monterey County make it both idyllic and ideal for growing quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The defining characteristic of these wines is balance, with flavor and structure that complement each other to make elegant wines. |
